Retailers are currently losing out to online pureplays based on new research from Wipro Digital and are failing to deliver on their guarantee.

Wipro surveyed 2,023 respondents between January 5 and 8 — split half and half between the UK and the United States. The research showed that 71% of consumers in the united kingdom stated that they did over half of the 2014 Christmas holiday season shopping online — compared to 45.

Come the Christmas trading period in 2015 and over half of all UK consumers stated they planned an increase online, compared to only 6 percent who planned to increase their shopping rates instead.

Higher spend

Spend is greater online with an average of292. The greater convenience, ease of prices that are better and use are aspects in the customers’ decision to shop online over store.

Since shoppers were preferring rather to store on online pureplay retail sites on the other hand, the research showed that retailers that supposedly concentrated on full plans not actually achieved their goals.

A signification 44 percent of shoppers reported doing more than half of their online shopping. A quarter of shoppers were discovered not to even be considering mortar and brick retailers’ sites and more than half said they were not choosing to see manufacturers’ direct-to-consumer websites.

In-store marketing

The poll also revealed that more than a third (34 percent) were surfing on the internet and instore, but then leaving again to complete the purchase on the internet. More must be performed in order to catch that customer whilst instore.

International mind at Wipro Digital, Avinash Rao explained that retailers need to unite what they do more efficiently.

There are still organisations that focus on the offline course and there are the ones which focus online. Rather you have to shape yourself round the consumer and the customer travel and not necessarily across the channel or technology,” he explained.
