Analysing the impact of Google+ on SEO

Are you going to get visitors in case you don’t have a Google+ profile? Sounds a little extreme, I know, but read on.

Ever since Eric Schmidt (Google’s CEO) was quoted as saying “Information linked to verified online profiles will be rated higher than content without such verification”, it’s had site owners rushing to their local SEOs to make sure they don’t get struck.

It’s when he says “The real price of remaining anonymous, and then, might be irrelevance” which you need to stop and think about what you are doing and whether you are doing it right! You can read more over at Search Engine Watch.

So what is everyone supposed to do now? All run with the link building and content production to Google + and to hell?

It is business as normal

In reality, very little has changed. It is no surprise that Google will favour those who have a confirmed profile tied in with their site.

After all, what they want to reveal is those individuals who are knowledgable in their area; individuals who deserve to have their posts shared that those who write content only for content’s sake from the hope of getting a click or 2 in order to feedtheirAdsense campaigns.

But, I can hear people thinking, “but what about me? I understand a lot about my field! ” Well then, you have to start yelling about it but yelling in the ideal way!

There would be little point in only establishing a Google+ profile and then tying this in with your website, if Google never got to understand anything about you and the way you are really perceived. You need to network; eventually become among the voices which gets listened to and when you post an article, it’s seen as one worthy of seeming more highly in the SERPs.

Bear in mind that word that Schmidt stated…Irrelevance… You really don’t need any part of this!
